About This Role

Senior Analysts conduct innovative research and deliver advice through written reports, consulting, client inquiries, and speeches. The Senior Analyst writes to, presents to, and advises senior technology and business decision makers on Forrester’s research that addresses the strategic decision needs of these leaders in China and beyond.


In particular, the Senior Analyst will research concepts, frameworks, and best practices on how emerging technologies (including, but not limited to cloud, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence) can contribute to the successful transformation of business strategies in an increasingly digital world. The research efforts will include identifying trends and addressing challenges around leveraging and deploying emerging technologies to deliver customer and business value. The Senior Analyst will track and understand the respective vendor landscape and strategic partners for firms in China and beyond.  


The successful candidate is a compelling and clear writer and presenter and has a proven track record of developing strong professional relationships with senior-level technology managers and emerging technology vendors. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of the emerging technology landscape in China and an appetite for conducting and writing research to stay abreast of these topics.

Job Description

  • Develop a deep understanding of what Forrester clients require to be successful at embracing emerging technologies to deliver sustainable customer and business value.

  • Evolve thought leadership around the emerging role of open source cloud platforms, artificial intelligence and IoT for the digitization of business processes and connected products.

  • Collaborate with experts in different focus areas from across Forrester’s role and geographic teams to develop a complete context for these trends, both providing input to their research reports and writing reports incorporating their expertise to provide a big-picture view.

  • Collaboratively develop cohesive bodies of research that are focused on helping enterprises in China and beyond succeed with their technology strategies.

  • Write/create approximately 8 reports per year, use social media to develop visibility for your research and Forrester, and contribute to Forrester client communities.

  • Consult with clients to apply Forrester’s research in the context of their specific business environment and help solve their problems through inquiry and advisory.

  • Present at Forrester-sponsored and industry-related events and deliver client webinars.

  • Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker; build relationships with senior technology leaders, CTOs, CIOs, and digital strategists as well as with the journalists who cover the sector; and participate in vendor briefings and field press inquiries as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience working in technology management positions responsible for architecting and defining technology strategy or equivalent relevant experience with a vendor and a deep understanding of the competitive marketplace. Ability to clearly articulate the business value of emerging technologies.

  • A strong record of academic achievement: B.A. or B.S. minimum; MBA or M.S. preferred.

  • A deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of technology on the business landscape; solid business instincts and a practical understanding of what makes companies tick and how CIOs/CTOs operate; and a creative view of markets, technologies, and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future.

  • Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills, as well as memorable presentation skills. Senior Analysts are expected to take complex, disparate ideas and distill them into simple, provocative concepts — and be willing to take a stand on vendors and outcomes.

  • The ability to travel more than 25% of the time.
